Self-service kiosk with integrated payment
From catalogue to card payment, with no cashier

IntelliPOS, official NCR partner in Peru, deployed Aloha POS in restaurants and hotels. The client wanted diners to order and pay on their own, without going through a till.
The problem
A self-service kiosk looks like a screen with buttons, but it has to talk to three things at once and none of them was designed for it: the point of sale, the physical payment pinpad and the kitchen. If any of the three fails mid-order, the customer has been charged and has no food.
What I did
- Complete kiosk, from catalogue to payment
- Integration with physical payment pinpads — the most delicate part, because a half-completed charge cannot undo itself
- Real-time order injection into Aloha POS, so the kitchen sees it exactly as if a cashier had taken it
- A kitchen bump bar emulator, so the full flow could be tested without the real hardware present
- Restaurant e-commerce, reusing the same catalogue
Outcome
Kiosk in production in restaurant locations. Still to be published: number of sites deployed and average ticket compared to a staffed till.
